It all started with a new dad, a late night, a hungry baby and a frozen bottle of milk that wouldn’t thaw fast enough. So Ayal Lanternari and Asaf Kehat set out to create a better bottle et voilà, Nanobébé was born.
Since the release of their award-winning bottle, the company has unveiled a range of products to make life easier for young parents including stackable, quick-thawing Breast Milk Storage Bags, soft, absorbent Day and Night Nursing Pads, and a sleep-time sidekick that uses AI to monitor a child’s breathing.
In these inflationary times, Nanobébé wanted to find a way to help young families save money too, so they started to look at ways to accept HSA and FSA payments through their website.
Good news for saving-savvy parents.
Shopify: No Easy Way to Accept HSA or FSA
“Our goal was to make it easy for customers to buy HSA/FSA-eligible products directly, but it was looking like we’d have to set up a separate subdomain with a separate payment account in order to do so,” shares Keegan Robbins, the VP of Sales and Marketing in the U.S. “We were concerned that it would be a big hassle.”
Nanobébé explored an HSA/FSA solution with Shopify but didn't find a path forward. Luckily, they were introduced to the team at Flex.
Simple and Seamless Integration With Flex
Flex’s Shopify Payment App allowed Nanobébé to quickly accept HSA/FSA payments within their existing site.
“The installation was extremely easy,” says Robbins. “There were no issues at all, and the Flex team was wonderfully responsive whenever we had questions. They even listened to ideas and suggestions we had and incorporated them into their development plans.”
Growing Families Want to Pay With HSAs and FSAs
In a newsletter to customers announcing the pay with HSA/FSA option, the open rate was nearly 42% showing how many parents were curious about this cost-saving method.
“It really demonstrated how valuable it is to accept HSA/FSA payments,” says Robbins.
There was value to the bottom line too: Orders from the email had an AOV that was 60% higher than the website's average.

Care for the Customer Is Key to Nanobébé’s Success
By accepting HSA and FSA payments, Nanobébé is helping young families tap into cost savings — on average, consumers save 30 to 40% percent on purchases they make with their HSA/FSA.
“We're definitely seeing customers being more frugal with their spending and trying to save wherever possible, so making it easy for them to make a purchase that's covered by their health saving plan is really important,” says Robbins.
Focusing on customer-centric solutions, like accepting HSA/FSA payments with Flex, helps Nanobébé meet the needs of families while reducing the burden on their bank account.
