About

Orthopedic shoes are known for being… practical. But if the idea of wearing unfashionable orthopedics causes you more discomfort than your feet, you’re not alone.

That’s where Hyper Arch Motion Sneakers come in; they make orthopedic shoes you actually want to wear. Their footwear combines a patented blend of dual-layer arch support, an air-cushion heel, and a sock-like flyknit upper to relieve (and possibly prevent) pain caused by injury or podiatric conditions.

The company was launched in 2017 with a mission to create products that were guided by customer needs. Their shoes were shaped by feedback from over 100,000 women around the world and underwent two years of design and testing. The result? A highly wearable shoe that absorbs 30% more impact than any other orthopedic shoe — and is arguably the most stylish on the market too.

Challenge

Health Savings Accounts are growing — and account holders are looking for ways to use their funds.

“We had customers asking [to use] HSA/FSA payments,” says Gus Fune, the CTO of of Hyper Arch Motion. So they started looking into how to accept payments. “Understanding the complexities of HSA/FSA and finding a viable solution proved to be a challenge,” he shares.

Gus and Hyper Arch aren't alone in looking for HSA and FSA solutions. Between 2017 and 2022, HSA accounts grew by 60% and by June of last year, there was estimated to be $116 billion in HSA assets held in nearly 36 million accounts. For healthcare brands, this means there is a growing pool of money designated specifically for healthcare-related products.

Solution

Hyper Arch Motion integrated with Flex's checkout API to add HSA/FSA as a payment option for customers on their site.

“It was quick and painless in technical terms because it was very similar to what we already had in place,” says Fune. The process can typically be up and running in about 48 hours.

Results

Customers have enjoyed the ease of checking out with their HSA or FSA debit card. “17% of our sales are now made through HSA payments,” Fune notes.

There was an unexpected bunion-relief bump as well: Customers who pay by HSA or FSA tend to spend more. “AOV on Flex orders are 20% higher than non-Flex orders,” he adds.

As a brand, that’ll add a spring to your step!
